Circuit Court Record Books
Circuit Court Record Books were bound, handwritten records of daily proceedings of civil and criminal cases in the circuit court. The chronological record includes the court term, date, officials in attendance, and number and style of case, along with a detailed statement in formal language of any proceedings, motions, judgments, actions taken, or adjournment. Some volumes have corresponding indexes at the back or in a separate volume.
The record books can be cross-referenced with the court cases and court index volumes to supplement the case file record. Only pages referencing freedom suits include a transcription. All pages are available to view.
