Direct index books to circuit court case files contain handwritten entries for each case, arranged by letter of the alphabet for the last name of the plaintiffs for each consecutive term. Inverted index books contain handwritten entries for each case, arranged by letter of the alphabet for the last name of the defendants for each consecutive term.
