Know all Men by These Presents,
That I William Jewell of the county
of Boone and State of Missouri have
fully and voluntarily manumited and
set free and by these presents do fully
and voluntarily and set free
my negro man known and called
Manuel, alias Emanuel, alias Manly, of
dark complexion and aged about thirty
five years: and I do these presents
release, discharge and forever absolve
said negro from all obligations to perform
service for me in future and
renounce all right and title to him.
In testimony whereof I have here
to set my hand and seal this
day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and forty seven (1847)

Boone Circuit Court
for March Term 1847
Be it remembered that on this Twentieth
day of March in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty seven, personally came into open
court, William Jewell who is personally
known to the judge of this court to be
the person whose name is subscribed to the
within and forgoing deed of Manumission
or Instrument of writing as a party thereto
and as having executed the same and
acknowledged said deed to be his act and
deed hand and seal for the purposes therein
mentioned: which was ordered to be certified
and is here done accordingly
In testimony whereof, I hereto subscribe
my name and affix the seal of
said Circuit Court at office in
Columbia on this day and year afor
said Robert S Todd
Clerk.

County of Boone, sct.
This deed of manumission from
William Jewell to Manuel, Emanuel or Manley a slave
was produced before me Clerk of the Circuit Court and Ex
officio Recorder for Boone County on the Twentieth day of
March in the year Eighteen hundred and forty seven:
and with the certificate thereon is duly recorded in
Book 2 pages 125 & 126 Given under my hand
as recorder aforesaid with the seal of
said Court hereto affixed at office in Columbia
on this day and year aforesaid
