Know all men by these presents that I Rebecca Brotherton of the City
and County of St Louis and State of Missouri in consideration of Four
Hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt of which sum I hereby
acknowledge do hereby Emancipate and set free for ever from servitude
my Slave Daniel aged about Forty Years.
In Witness whereof I have
hereto set my hand and seal at the City of St. Louis this Twenty fifth
day of November AD. eighteen hundred and forty six

State of Missouri Set. Wednesfday Friday Nov 27th 1846
County of St Louis Be it remembered that on this Twenty seventh fifth day
of November one thousand eight hundred and forty six in open Court
personally appeared M. Brotherton and Thos G. Settle two credible
witnesses who being examined upon oath prove the execution of the
within Deed of Emancipation from Rebecca Brotherton to Dan-
-iel which said acknowledgment is entered on the Record of the
Proceedings of the Court of that day.

and affixed the seal of said Court at
office in the City of Saint Louis the day
and Year aforesaid Jn Ruland Clerk
State of Missouri Set
County of St Louis I John Ruland Clerk of the Circuit Court with-
-in and for the County aforesaid Certify the foregoing to be a true and correct copy
of a Deed of Emancipation from Rebecca Brotherton to Daniel, as fully
as the same remains in my Office
