Know all men by these presents that we Lewis Mason
a free man of Color as principal and Samuel
Black as security are held and firmly bound in
the sum of two hundred dollars each to the state of
Missouri for the payment of which we bind
ourselves our heirs +c firmly by these presents
sealed with our seals and dated this eleventh
day of January in the year eighteen hundred
and forty four_______________
The condition of this obligation as such
that whereas the County Court of St. Louis County
at the December term thereof on the year afores
aid granted a License to the said Lewis Mason
to reside in the State of Missouri Now if the
said Lewis Mason shall be of good behaviour
during his residence in said state then the
above obligation shall be Null _ void otherwise
to remain in full force & effect
In testimony whereof the said persons
have here to set their hands and offered their
seals this day + year aforesaid
