Know all men by these presents that we
George Blackson as principal and Orrin
Smith as security are held and firmly bound
unto the State of Missouri in the just and
full sum of Two Hundred dollars
for the true payment of which sum of money
we bind ourselves, our heirs executors administrators
and assigns jointly and severally by these presents
sealed with our seals and dated this nineteenth
day of June in the year of our Lord
eighteen hundred and forty three

The condition of this obligation is such
that whereas George Blackson has this day
obtained from the County Court of Saint
Louis County a license to remain in
the State of Missouri as a free person of
color under the provisions of an act entitled
"An act more effectually to prevent free persons
of color from entering into the State and
other purposes" Now the condition of this
bond is such that if the said George
Blackson shall be of good behaviour
during the continuance of said license
then the above obligation to be null & void
otherwise to be and remain in full force and
virtue in law
