Know all men by these presents that I Felicity
as principal and PL Chouteau
as security are held and firmly bound unto the
State of Missouri in the just and full sum of four
hundred dollars for the true payment of which
said sum of money we bind ourselves one and
each of our heirs executors administrators
and assigns jointly and severally firmly by
these presents sealed with our seals and dated
the twenty third day of May in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty three.

The condition of the above obli-
gation is such that whereas the said Felicity
has this day obtained from the County
Court of St Louis County a license to remain
in this state under the provision of an act
of the General Assembly of the State of Miss- ouri entitled "An Act more effectually
to prevent free persons of color from entering
into this state and for other purposes" approved
February twenty third in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty
three. Now if the said Felicity
shall be of good behavior during the
continuance of said license then the above obligation to be void else to be and remain
in full force and virtue
