Know all men by these presents that we
Moses Amwood Thomas Amwood F Risk of the city and county
of St Louis and State of Missouri are held and firmly
bound by the these presents to the State Missouri
in the Sum of five hundred dollars good & Lawful
money of the United States the payment of which
we hereby hind ourselves our heirs executors adm-
inistrators & assigns
The condition of the above
obligation is such that whereas the said Moses
Amwood a free person of colour of the city of
St Louis & State of Missouri aforesaid has this
day obtained a license from the county court
of St Louis State of Missouri under & in persu-
ance of an act instituted an act the more
effectually to prevent free persons of colour
from entering the State of Missouri & other
purposes approved February twenty third AD 1843
Now therefore if the said Moses Amwood shall
continue of good moral character and behavior &
to support himself by lawful imployment
then this obligation to be void & null otherwise to
remain in full force & effect
As witness our hands & seals this
second day of May AD 1843
