that he holds a note on the defendants Robert N
Martin and John Clark in substance as forthwith,
"Twelve months after date we or either of as prom
ice to pay William Clark or bearer one hundred
and ten dollars for value received of him this
sixth day of november 1833

he pray, judgment for his debt and damages

William Clark plaintiff states that he holds a note on the defendants:

We command you to summon Robert N Martin and John Clark that
they be and appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court on the second
day of the next term thereof to be held at the city of St Louis within and
for the County of Saint Louis on the fourth monday of march instant then
and there to answer unto the above demand of William Clark as set forth
in his petition of which the above is a copy and have you then there this writ
