The [illegible] for the United States of Amer-ica[?] present that Paul [illegible] [illegible] of the Said county Pub
lican from the last October to the present day 8 Dec. 1809 and
on [illegible] other times & days between that day & the day of the
finding of the indictment with force & arms at his residence in the
Town of St St. Louis in the County of St Louis did keep maintenance at
certain common & ill governed and disordely house and in
his said house for his own [illegible] & gain certain persons as well men
or women of evil [illegible] & fame & of [illegible] conversation to
frequent & comm together then & on other days & times there un-
lawfully & wilfully did cause &[?] [illegible] the said new women
[illegible] his said [illegible] in the night [illegible] the & on the other
day & times there to be & remain [illegible] fighting drinking [illegible] gambling whoring [illegible] themselves unlawfully [illegible]
did permit & [illegible] doth permit to the great damage & common nuisance
of all the good people there inhabiting, residing & passing to the evil
example of all others in the like case offending and against the
Peace & dignity of the United States of America

by the Grand Jury and have you then there

YOU are hereby commanded to summon Jabez Warren
that setting aside all manner of excuse and delay he be and in proper perosn before the Judge of our cir-
cuit
court on the 11th day of December at the Town of St. Louis , then there to testify
and the truth to say in a certain matter of controversy now pending in our said court, wherein United States are plaintiff and Paul
