William Clarke , complains of Nicholas
Brazeaa[?] for this, that the said Nicholas, at the
District
aforesaid, on the thirteenth Day of July in the year of one
thousand eight hundred and nine, by one certain [illegible] note
of hand of that date by him with his own propers
hand writing or mark then & there put made of
subscribed, promised the plaintiff as follows as
"on Demand I promise to pay to Gen. William
" Clarke agent for the Missouri Fur Company , on his
"order the just and full sum of one hundred & seventy
one Dollars & twenty two & half cents for value

Yet the said Nicholas Brazeau though
often requested hath [illegible] refused &[?] still refuses
the said sum of money to the plaintiff to pay

if he may be found within your bailiwick and him safely keep so that you
may have his body before the judges of our Court of Common Pleas to be
holden at the town of Saint Louis in & for the District of Saint Louis
on the first Monday of November next then there to answer unto
William Clark for the use of the Missouri Fur Company of a
plea of trespas[?] on the case to the Damage of the said
William
the sum of Three Hundred Dollars and have you then there
this writ

St Louis aforesaid this twenty fourth day
of July in the year of our Lord one
