Edward [illegible] Hempstead administrator of all [illegible] singular the
goods [illegible] chattels nights, and [illegible] credits of [illegible] Meriwether Lewis
[illegible] in a [illegible] that he [illegible] to him the [illegible] sum of One
hundred [illegible] & Seventy Five Dollars. Lawful money of the [illegible] United
States which the said Lewis to him in his life time [illegible] farther where as the said Lewis at the Town of
District of [illegible] Saint Louis - on the Twenty fourth day of
August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand [illegible] eight hundred and [illegible] nine, by one [illegible] certain Obligatory-sealed with the seal or several of the said Lewis of by
him [illegible] signed- the date whereof is the same of year last
[illegible], where by he acknowledges to [illegible] owe the plaintiff
the [illegible] sum of One hundred [illegible] Seventy five dollars, payable
the first day of [illegible] October then [illegible] next for [illegible] value received.

We command you to summons Edward Hampstead
Administrator of all and singular the goods [illegible] Chattels rights and credits of
Meriwether Levis deceased, [illegible] if he may be found within you [illegible] bailiwick
that he and appear before the judges of our Court of common pleas
to be holden at the town of Saint-Louis in and for the district of Saint-Louis
on the first Monday of [illegible] November next-then there to answer unto Charles
Sanguinette of a plea that he under to him the sum of Ohe hundred and
twenty five dollars which the said Lewis to him in his life time justly owed
and from him unjustly detains to the damage of the said Charles [illegible] Sangui
nette the sum of two hundred dollars and have you then there
